Dr. Love David, Research Coordinator of the Centre for Cyber-Physical Food, Energy, and Water Systems (CCP-FEWS), represented the center at the Socio-Economic Impact Summit organized by the Change Hub and its partners. The summit brought together 30 distinguished experts and leaders from sectors such as Environment, Sustainability, Governance, Justice, Mining, Infrastructure, Health, Education, and Agriculture. The goal was to cultivate a collective vision for a transformational, just, and inclusive South African society.
Dr. David facilitated three pivotal sessions under the theme Our People, Our Planet, aligning closely with the objectives of CCP-FEWS. The sessions included Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security amid a Growing Population, Protecting the Planet, and Active Citizenship and the Digital Divide. In each session, Dr. David highlighted key initiatives undertaken by the research center, fostering rich dialogue and collaboration on pressing socio-economic and environmental challenges.
Prof. Nnamdi Nwulu, Director of CCP-FEWS, lauded the summit for creating a platform that aligns with the center’s commitment to leveraging Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies to drive sustainability and socio-economic development. Prof. Nwulu emphasized the importance of fostering innovative solutions to bridge gaps in digital access, support sustainable agriculture, and address environmental challenges, all of which are critical to transforming South African society.
